Melissa Tangen, Golden Acorn Outstanding Volunteer

Melissa is a long time Green Mountain PTA volunteer.  She is our “go-to” or step-up” person when we’re looking for a someone to help with vision and hearing screening, school pictures, PTA Book Fair, Jump Rope for Heart, popcorn popper for class room rewards,  and nearly every event.  She currently stepped up to be our PTA Secretary.  Melissa not only volunteers at school but is involved in her community and she is a Girl Scout Leader for her daughter, Madison’s troop. This time of year they are heavily involved with Girl Scout Cookies.  Thanks for every things you do Melissa.


Shannon Kraus, Outstanding Advocate Award

This award recognizes and honors individuals for their continued dedication and service to ALL children.  You can find her volunteering with BINGO Chili Night, Fall Festival, Unicycle Events, Jump Rope for Heart, just to name a few.  Shannon wears many hats, she is a PARA, Teacher’s Assistant, Office Clerk and Volunteer Coordinator. She works one on one with students, in small groups, juggles her time in the office assisting with phones, signing in late students, putting together registration and kindergarten packets, getting volunteers for events and assists teachers with copies, project prep and a listening ear.  She knows the copy machine and laminator inside and out,  is a problem solver and jumps in where needed.  Shannon is dedicated to helping her own family members, especially her Grandmother.


Cyndi Garber, Outstanding Educator Award

This award recognizes the individual who goes beyond the normal expectations of their job to make the learning environment fun, beneficial and challenging.  Cyndi has consistently been a PTA member over the years.  She helps with major school and PTA events, and  facilitates communication between PTA and Staff.  She organizes assemblies for our school within PTA Budget.  Our Spirit of Giving Program at Green Mountain is successful because of her dedication and commitment to our less fortunate students and families.   Cyndi is a resource for students and parents when they need help resolving issues on the playground, bus, etc., is the contact when parents have questions regarding testing and struggling students; coordinates and helps with the schools testing.  She puts a lot of time and effort into our Job Squad program.  Cyndi is the Treasurer for her daughter’s non-profit dance team.

Recognizing our GM Volunteers...Calling for Nominations

Green Mountain PTA is proud to continue the tradition of recognizing volunteers from our school. A Golden Acorn Award is a very special award given by our PTA to individual(s) who have consistently given outstanding volunteer service and shown dedication to our children, and our community. Nominees may be administrators, teachers, specialists, support staff and community members who go “above and beyond”.

Please take time to fill out the Golden Acorn Award Nomination Form (link is below) to recognize these dedicated individuals.  All nominations are due to the Green Mountain Office by Wednesday, February 21st. 

Founder's Day Banquet will be held on March 23, 2018, if interested in attending, we need a response by Monday, March 5, 2018.
