School Safety Update
How We're Keeping Our Schools Safe
Posted on 06/13/2018
During the school board meeting on June 6, we shared a district safety update. Here are some highlights:
  • Facility Security - Secure entrances at six of our schools are finished or almost done; design work is in progress for the remaining schools. We will add two school resource officers next year and will be installing locks on interior classroom doors that can be locked from the inside.

  • Operational Safety - ALICE training will continue. We will update our emergency drills and plans in August.

  • Social Emotional Safety - We will increase access to counselors and mental health support. We will improve our Multi-tiered Support System and provide staff training on social and emotional learning, as well as equity and cultural competence.

  • Behavior Plan Review - We will provide staff training on behavior interventions and give additional support where needed.

Our top priority is keeping our students safe. It is our top priority every day, not just in the wake of a tragedy. We appreciate your support as we work together to ensure the safety of our schools and the success of our students!
