Founders Day Banquet/Golden Acorn

Founders Day/Golden Acorn Award
Posted on 02/06/2020

Congratulations 19-20 Recipients:
Chris Kay, Golden Acorn (outstanding volunteer)
Wendy Baker, Outstanding Educator

Founders’ Day is when we celebrate the legacy and work of our founders — Alice McLellan Britney, Phoebe Apperson Hearst and Selena Sloan Butler — to better the lives of every child in education, health and safety.  It is a time to reflect and take pride in our achievements, and renew our commitment to be a:

•   Powerful voice for all children
•   Relevant resource for parents; and
•   Strong advocate for public education

Our founders represented women of imagination and courage.  They had a simple idea— to improve the lives and future of all children. They understood the power of individual action, worked beyond the accepted barriers of their day, and took action to change the world for all children.

Postponed until May for NOW ...

A banquet to honor this year's Golden Acorn recipients, called the Founder's Day Celebration will be held on March 20th at the Kitsap Conference Center, 100 Washington Ave. in Bremerton.  Cost is $35.00 to attend
.  Dinner is included.  If you are interested in attending this event or have questions, contact Ashley Williams, 360-801-1983.

PTA Is proud to continue the tradition of recognizing volunteers from our school.  A Golden Acorn award is a very special award given by our PTA to individual(s) who have consistently given outstanding volunteer service and shown dedication to our children, and our community. Nominees may be administrators, teachers, specialists, support staff and community members who go “above and beyond”.

 Awards given are for:

Golden Acorn recognizes volunteers who      have given outstanding service to all children in the school community... not just an individual who has donated time to help in his/her child’s class or a staff member who is doing a good job.  It is to recognize volunteer service “above and beyond” a particular job description.

The Outstanding Educator Award recognizes individuals who go beyond the normal expectations of their jobs to make the learning environment fun, beneficial, and challenging.

The Outstanding Advocate Award recognizes and honor’s individuals for continued and dedicated service to ALL children and a demonstrated commitment to helping create strong policies relating to the health, welfare, safety, and education of children and youth.
