💐 Principal Newsletter - May 2026 💐

Dear Green Mountain Families,

As we move into the final stretch of the school year, I continue to be incredibly proud of our students, staff, and community. May is always a busy month at school, but it is also one of my favorites because we get to reflect on just how much growth has taken place this year, academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our classrooms remain full of meaningful learning each day. Students are continuing to build important skills, complete projects, participate in special activities, and prepare for end-of-year celebrations. While summer is getting closer, school is still in full swing through June 18th, and every day of learning continues to matter. Consistent attendance helps students stay connected, maintain routines, and finish the year strong alongside their classmates.

Last month, our PTA helped us celebrate the incredible staff members who make Green Mountain such a special place with our Staff Appreciation Week, an important reminder of the care, dedication, and support our staff provide students every single day. We are grateful for all they do to help our students learn and thrive.

This month, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the parents, family members, and community volunteers who give their time to support Green Mountain Elementary. Whether helping in classrooms, supporting events, preparing materials, chaperoning field trips, or encouraging students each day, these contributions make a meaningful difference in our school community.

As we head toward the end of the year, please continue checking communication from teachers and the office regarding upcoming events, Field Day, and end-of-year activities. We also appreciate your support in reinforcing positive behavior expectations, safe choices, and daily routines as excitement for summer begins to build.

Thank you for your continued partnership, encouragement, and support throughout this school year. It truly takes all of us working together to create a positive and successful school community for our students. We look forward to making the most of these final weeks together and celebrating a strong finish to the school year.

Your partner in education,

Cyndi Garber
Principal

Thank You, Green Mountain PTA

Thank you to our amazing PTA, Emily Rose, Jennifer Willette, Audra Snook, Hilary Stines and Meghan Freedman!

We appreciate all you do to make the school year memorable and fun for our students and staff. Your time, creativity, and support help create special experiences we couldn’t do without. Thank you! 🤗

Smarter Balanced Testing Window 4/27 - 5/29

The Smarter Balanced Testing window occurs from April 27 through May 29. The table below shows Green Mountain’s testing schedule.

There is a short window of opportunity for our students to complete the SBA, therefore, please make sure your child arrives to school each day on time. Please do not schedule doctor, dentist, or other appointments on these days. Encourage your child to relax, do their best, pay close attention to the directions, and attempt to answer all questions. Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep the night before the test and has a good breakfast. We greatly appreciate your extra support during this time.

Parent Input Form

Understanding your child’s learning style is one of our most important staff responsibilities. It is crucial that classes are balanced on a number of criteria that affect teaching and learning. We consider student achievement, independence, behavior, academic level, boy/girl ratio, and combinations of students who learn well together when creating classes. Parents may have some additional information which can help create the best possible learning environment, and we welcome this input. When providing this information, we ask that parents focus upon the needs of the child and the type of environment that will best meet those needs. This form is for input. It is not used to request specific teachers as grade assignments are subject to change each fall. Input is considered when the form is submitted by 3:30 Friday, May 22, 2026.

Roller Skating/Blading in P.E.

May 4 - May 15

Please read Mr. Lancaster's rules and safety guidelines. This was also sent home in backpacks with each student this afternoon.

It is very important that students remember to wear socks that cover their ankles and to bring a helmet for this activity.

We would love your help! If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to Mr. Lancaster at 360-662-8732 or email AndyL@ckschools.org
